3 Peaks

The Church Run took a terrible turn this morning. As the Garden Hills Exercise Club was occupying our traditional plank crunch station at the playground, we opted for a hill workout. This mornings beating was the culmination of over twenty hours devoted to stairs and hills this year. The strength training phase of our shortened Winter period is nearly complete.

The 3 peaks are in aptly named Garden Hills. This first climb to Mike Ryders lawn is a Muther. As we peak, there is the sensation that a Boa Constrictor is squeezing the life out of us. The feeling usually starts in our forearms. The other two hills are the garden variety type. They seem tougher having done the beast first.

We did manage to throw in 600 repetitions of various core muscle exercises this morning. The total was 4 miles, 600 reps, 880 calories burnt. This workout will stay with us for 23 hours. At the very minute our bodies are reaching maximum recovery, we will be right back out there doing it again.
