Variety is the spice of life

Working out every day can get old fast. The grind can beat us down, make us bored, stale, tired and worst of all, can cause a plateau.

We try to do something different every day in order to keep it interesting. Here are a few of our workouts:

Crazy 8s - Every ones favorite. This is the most effective workout. We crank out more miles and exercise in this workout than in any other. Boot Camp's record is 8 miles, 888 repetitions on 8/8/2008
Rage Workout - One instructor stands in the middle of the field and screams his head off for a complete hour
Ridge Workout - Exercise on the top of the stairs at E Rivers
Church Run - A quiet reflective tour of Church Turn a.k.a. Jesus Junction
Belt Line -  Newest addition to the routine. A lovely jaunt through the country in the city
Parking Deck -  9 stories of ramps and or stairs with a plush courtyard mixed in for active recovery
Garden Hills -  a quiet neighborhood with many healthy hills to climb plus a great city park and couple of nice schools.
Neighborhood 800s -  The horseshoe half mile behind the Church. No matter which way we go, we finish up hill.
Long Run - 5 - 7 miles without stopping
Lenox - Soon to be upgraded as part of the Atlanta Beltline. We have the privilege to witness its progress these days.
The Beating - Only a few select have had the honor to experience the "little shop of horrors"
Down and Backs - easy on the grass at E Rivers or The Frank. usually accompanied by Jazzercize
TRACK - good old fashion hammering on a hard surface
STAIRS - repeat climbing either at E Rivers, The Frank or the Parking Deck. Good Base Building
Time Trial / PT Test - Timed Two miles, How many sit ups and push ups can we do in two minutes?
Frankie Allen - Buckhead Baseball fields that can be used in many ways
Valley - A popular road in Atlanta for running
Chastain Park - a really popular park in Atlanta for Boot Camps of all kind
PRUMC Campus - Our home base has nice amenities
Bricks - Been replaced by weights. Bricks was a Manly Man workout invented by a Special Forces Marine who had just returned from War.
running of the brides - Sadly, this annual party/workout ended this year with the closing of Filene's Basement. There are many fond memories of this nutty workout.
Out and back - Either a North or South bound trek on Peachtree
Stump Garden - Outside aerobicise
diagonals - A set of suicides followed by traffic controlled mayhem
Gym - a rarely used room that years past was an absolute sweat shop

These workouts do not make Boot Camp. It is the beautiful people who do them that make it fun.
