The Three-Act Structure is a model used in writing and evaluating modern storytelling which divides a screenplay into three parts called the Setup, the Confrontation and the Resolution.
5K is a distance that most folks can race. When we think about putting the petal to the metal, most of us can hang in there for 3 miles. The first mile sets the tone and allows folks to demonstrate their intentions. The second mile tells the truth about how realistic those intentions are. The final mile separates the men from the boys. Other truth's, like desire and character are seen at the end.
5K is a story that can be told many times a year. Its not some epic novel that requires a serious commitment to complete. Recovery comes quickly and leaves folks feeling exhilarated and refreshed, not beat up and trashed.
